Our Handheld Craft Pies are built in Boulder, Colorado
Robert, a native of New Zealand has been in pursuit of the perfect Kiwi-style savory pie since transplanting himself here in the good old USA. He drove state to state in search of pie only to be disappointed by biting into a soggy bottomed empty, flavorless pie. Robert took matters into his own hands and that's when Christine stepped in. Christine, a French-Trained Pastry Chef was born and raised in New York City where she honed her skills as a chef and food creative. She was first introduced to the savory pie culture (yes, it's a thing) after spending many years in England. These two pie aficionados joined forces and boom Tip Top Savory Pies was built in Boulder, Colorado.
We believe pies should be good for you, so we craft each gourmet handheld pie with real food sources from people and places we trust. In New Zealand we don't use words like organic or natural, we just call it food. It should be a given that ingredients come from humane and sustainable sources. Our pastry is handmade using 100% pure butter, non-GMO and unbleached flour baked to a crisp, succulent golden crust. Our pastry has altitude, crafted and mastered in Boulder, Colorado to provide you with the ultimate finished pie.
Tip Top Pies are individual 5" round and built to travel- pack them for a hike, lunch, a day on the mountain or anytime you fancy a pie.
STEAK & ALE. A definitive pie, the name speaks for itself. Slow-cooked using grass-fed beef and local hand-crafted ale. We take an extra step in this recipe by infusing our pastry with ale as well creating the ultimate flavorful bad ass pie.
PULLED PORK. We are big fans of pulled-pork at Tip Top. This pie is our homage to our dear friends in Texas. We make a righteous pulled-pork pie smothered with baked beans and the perfect amount of spice.
ANTI-CHICKEN POT PIE. Mind your peas and carrots. This pie actually has chicken in it - its not all white gravy with a few bits of veg thrown in. Try the best, ditch the rest.
CAULIFLOWER TIKKA MASALA. We love a good curry. Our veggie version delights the senses with spices galore. Cauliflower, chickpeas and onions are slow-simmered in a creamy tomato-based sauce cooked to perfection with love.
MUSHROOM. Our mushroom pie is a pie for the meat-lovers. Yes, you heard right! We go through a multi-step process of sauteing, deglazing then simmering. The outcome is the most mushroomy-flavoured pie ever.
SPINICH & CARAMELIZED ONION. Every mouthful of this silky-textured pie will leave you wanting another bite. Sauteed spinach, caramelized onion and gruyere cheese a delightful trio in this very posh pie.
SWEET POTATO & CHORIZO. This pie was inspired by visits to all the wonderful tapas bars in Spain. Sweet Potatoes are mashed to a smooth and creamy finish and mixed with spicy chorizo and a blend of cheeses.
CROOKED COTTAGE. A long time ago our chef lived in a tiny, crooked cottage in the forest. This was the first pie she ever made. Its a take on Shepards Pie only made with bison instead of lamb, add some veg, top with mashed potato and there you have it.
